D.L.Dickinson's Personal Page

Welcome to my personal pages. I will try not to sound too boring as I talk to myself. Some of you may know me as Cbjam from my webpages. Here you can call me by my given first name, Darci. But only here. On my fan-fiction pages, you call me Cbjam. This leads to less confusion on my part(surprisingly).

Below is a summary-form history of my life. If you want to just skip it, go ahead.

I was born on August 9th, 1978 in the Carleton County Hospital located in Woodstock, New Brunswick, which is about 1.5 hours drive north from Fredericton, the province's capitol. I spent my first few years in the small village of Lakeville, and moved to Fredericton with my mother and little sister when I was 6. We moved twice after that, staying in Fredericton, and we ended up in the basement of my mother's future in-laws, Oma and Opa. I spent three years going to Lower Lincoln Elementary School, which is the longest I ever stayed at one school up until I was 14. It has always been my favorite, since I spent a lot of good times there. Anyone remember cakewalks, handing out Valentine cards, and actually having fun celebrating holidays inside a classroom? Man, I wish I could go back sometimes.

When I was 11 we moved to Kitchener, Ontario, and then a year later we moved to the city next door - Waterloo. I spent 8 whole years in that house in Beechwood. In fact, that is the home we brought Kaylie home to when we first got her. It was also where I lived when I finally got saved. (To learn more about my Christianity, go HERE). For high school I spent four years in Waterloo Collegiate, and one year in Kitchener Collegiate & Vocational. After that I did one year of university at the University of Waterloo. I have since moved to Toronto, and am now in my third year, attending the University of Toronto Scarborough campus.

In the future I wish to be all of three things: a mother, a (published) author, and an elementary school teacher. Those are my main ambitions, and unlike some of my earlier dreams, these ones are actually realistic.

I've wanted to be an author since I was 11 years old. My grade 6 teacher used to tease me about spending so much time obsessing over a story. It started out with 2-5 page stories, mostly involving holidays. Then I started doing ninja stories in junior high. I'm not quite sure why. Nowadays I write in my spare time, mostly my own work, but also fan-fiction that some of you already know about. Though I haven't actually completely finished one of my longer stories yet, I hope to in the near future, and I'll be sure to let you all know when I get something published by posting it on this page.

Of all my schooldays, my fondest memories are of elementary school, particularly the middle grades. In Lower Lincoln, where I went for grades 3-5, we had all sorts of fun. We played games, had theme days, participated in school plays, had recess(!!), got free food from the teacher on holidays. We also dressed up on Hallowe'en and exchanged gifts, food and fun on Christmas. There are so many more things I enjoyed about elementary school it's too much to write down. But I'm sure you all get my point. This is one reason why I want to teach elementary school. That and the fact that I have already taught kids aged 2-11 at my church in Children's Church and Pioneer Clubs. I really enjoyed working with them, and I think they are at a very fun age. Maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll be able to experience all those activities of elementary school again!!

As for being a mother, I have known without a doubt for the past four years that I want to be one. When I was younger, I used to think I never wanted to get married or even date a boy let alone have kids. But I have since changed, as many women do. Unfortunately, since I'm not married, I cannot have children just yet. Hopefully within the next few years that wee obstacle can be removed. I just hope the lucky father likes kids. I want at least four, maybe five.

More on me later...
